Get to Light Night, get rewarded: £400 in prizes for 400 years of Leeds

Light Night Leeds is one of our favourite nights of the year. Every autumn, the city centre fills with light installations, art and performance, and thousands of people come together to enjoy it for free.

‍

This year is extra special. Light Night is part of Leeds 400, celebrating 400 years since the city received its Royal Charter, under the theme "A City Speaks...". It's also in October half term for the first time, so it's the perfect night out for families.

‍

We think getting there should be part of the celebration. So on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, we're rewarding everyone who walks, wheels, cycles or takes the bus or train into the city for Light Night, with £400 in prizes up for grabs to mark 400 years of Leeds.

‍

How to take part

It couldn't be simpler. Just record your journey into the city centre in the BetterPoints app. A journey counts if it:

‍

• is made by walking, wheeling, cycling, bus or train
• starts at least a mile from the city centre and finishes in the Light Night area
• sets off between 5pm and 8.30pm on 28 or 29 October

‍

Every qualifying journey earns you 100 bonus points on top of your usual points, plus an entry into our Leeds 400 prize draw. You can earn one bonus and one entry each night, so come along on both evenings for two chances to win.

‍

Light Night runs from 6pm to 9.30pm on both nights, so there's plenty of time to make your way in.
