All Aboard! West Yorkshire

All Aboard! Earn BetterPoints exploring West Yorkshire this August

This Yorkshire Day, we're launching All Aboard! — a month-long invitation to explore West Yorkshire by bus and train, and get rewarded for it.

The timing couldn't be better

This August, every 5 to 15 year old in England travels free on participating buses under the Government's Great British Summer Savings scheme — no pass, no app, no registration needed.

And it builds on something West Yorkshire already leads on: the region introduced England's first £2 single bus fare cap back in September 2022, well ahead of the government's own nationwide cap. A new national £2 cap, announced by Prime Minister Andy Burnham, takes effect from January 2027.

With the kids covered and fares capped, there's never been a better time to get exploring.

How it works

All Aboard! runs throughout August across all five West Yorkshire districts — Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. The free BetterPoints app rewards you for making healthier, greener travel choices, all month long:

  • Record your journeys by bus, train, walking, wheeling or cycling, and earn BetterPoints automatically.
  • Check in at any of 25 geolocated bonus locations across the region for extra rewards — the more you visit, the bigger the bonus.
  • Enter weekly prize draws and a grand prize, with hundreds of pounds in rewards up for grabs.

Each week shines a spotlight on a different part of the region — Wild West Yorkshire, City Explorer, and Art & Nature — but bonus points are available everywhere, all month.
